Why Knoji?

As an English teacher, I’ve always had a strong passion for reading and writing. Working at Knoji helps me use that passion to help others.

If you could give one study tip to your younger self, what would it be and why?

Study needs to begin as soon as possible. An hour or two of revision per day in the weeks leading toward a test is going to be more effective than trying to cram everything in with a few days to go.

What’s your superpower?

I can actually understand the weird Gen Z words and slang kids love.

Aarthy Sri

Bachelor of Medical Science / Doctor of Medicine at University of Newcastle

Why Knoji?

Knoji is a community where learning is fun! We encourage curiosity and ensure a relaxed, student first environment. At Knoji, we learn not just because we have to, but because we want to.

If you could give one study tip to your younger self, what would it be and why?

Understanding why and how something works is so much more powerful than just memorising it. Don’t be afraid to ask your tutors questions – that’s what we’re here for!

What’s your superpower?

Explaining tricky maths concepts using food analogies (turns out calculus makes more sense when it’s about pizza slices 🍕).

Adithya Nagaraj

Senior Tutor

2021 Baulkham Hills HS | Doctor of Medicine

✏️ Western Sydney University, Doctor of Medicine

Why Knoji?

I teach at Knoji because I’m able to help students build confidence in their learning by providing personalised support.

If you could give one study tip to your younger self, what would it be and why?

Have a small group of friends you can rely on to push you. Share resources with them and organise study groups to keep yourselves motivated.

What’s your superpower?

I can juggle 4 balls at once.

Aditi Sriram

Junior Tutor

Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)/Science

✏️ University of New South Wales, Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)/Science

Why Knoji?

I teach because I want to ensure that students get all the help they need and at the pace they need it at. At school, teachers have many students across various grades and it can be hard to seek individual help. Knoji’s warm atmosphere and smaller size classes create a solution for this and also provide a judgement-free zone for students to really become the best version of themselves :))

If you could give one study tip to your younger self, what would it be and why?

Take care of your physical health. It’s important to drink water, go outside and eat green things because if you don’t, your brain isn’t going to be working at its maximum capacity. Also, you will fall asleep in class and miss out on important information (like what might be coming in a test 😬)

What’s your superpower?

Finding grammar and spelling mistakes in chunky blocks of writing.

Adya Routray

Junior Tutor

Bachelor of Exercise Science / Master of Physiotherapy and Exercise Physiology at University of New South Wales

✏️ University of New South Wales, Bachelor of Exercise Science / Master of Physiotherapy and Exercise Physiology

Why Knoji?

The Knoji community aligns with my desire to impact students beyond the classroom, where along with teaching maths, I help them prepare for life beyond high school. I am invested in the hopes and dreams of all my students and enjoy guiding them in the process of actualising these goals especially as they reach senior years. As a Knoji senior maths tutor, I prioritise being a knowledgeable and empathetic older sister that plays an active role in facilitating the development of maths and personal growth in all my students.

If you could give one study tip to your younger self, what would it be and why?

The most effective study tip I’d give to my younger self would be to use “To Do” lists over time based goals like aiming for x number of study hours per day. There’s no need to half-heartedly slave away at a desk for the sake of it; instead, complete a certain task in a timely manner and then go live your life. While spending a long time studying may feel satisfying, 2 hours of productive work will always be more effective and beneficial that 4 hours of “semi-study” and also leave time for doing the things you love. Setting a task based goal for the session also focuses on the outcome rather than the process, which is reflective of the way school exams assess you.

What’s your superpower?

My positivity makes me a light in a darkened world, where students can turn to me as an empathetic and grounding figure when the stress and uncertainty of high school overwhelms them.

Adya Swain

Why Knoji?

As an English teacher, I’ve always had a strong passion for reading and writing. Working at Knoji helps me use that passion to help others.

If you could give one study tip to your younger self, what would it be and why?

Focus on understanding concepts instead of memorising them — real learning sticks when you know the “why” behind things. I used to waste time cramming, only to forget it all later. Building strong foundations early makes everything easier down the line.

What’s your superpower?

Remembering the tiniest details about people. If you’ve told me something, trust me I won’t forget it!

If you could give one study tip to your younger self, what would it be and why?

Why Knoji?

I wrote the Mathematics course at Knoji because I want to make Mathematics an easy subject to learn. As a Knoji tutor I focus on fostering confidence, motivation and self-improvement.

If you could give one study tip to your younger self, what would it be and why?

Prepare for weeks, not days.

What’s your superpower?

Trick you into learning hard Math concepts easily.

Anika Kuba

Junior Tutor

Bachelor of Advanced Science (Pharmaceutical Science) at University of Technology Sydney

✏️ University of Technology Sydney, Bachelor of Advanced Science (Pharmaceutical Science)

Why Knoji?

As a Knoji tutor I prioritise understanding and connecting the theory over simply answering the questions. Having the ability to connect ideas is what gives our students a leg up at school!

If you could give one study tip to your younger self, what would it be and why?

Regularly time yourself doing individual questions instead of just doing a million 3hr papers! Being able to complete a maths question in 2-3 minutes just in your homework will progressively improve your time management in exams. Start small, work up to the 3hrs

What’s your superpower?

Making it sound like I know what I am talking about even if I don’t have 100% confidence

Anila Shah

Why Knoji?

Knoji drew me in because of the close, supportive network of tutors who all share this common goal of helping high school students reach their goals. Every tutor acts as a mentor for students, making it so incredibly unique. The small classes of up to 8 mean that, as a tutor, I get to know everyone’s aspirations, prioritise making my classroom comfortable for everyone to ask questions and give high school advice like a big sister 😉

If you could give one study tip to your younger self, what would it be and why?

Past papers, past papers, past papers. Thank goodness I realised this in Year 12 but my younger self definitely needed this advice. Making less study notes and ensuring I can actually apply content to real exam-style Qs is so important.

What’s your superpower?

Staying 100% calm in stressful situations (my Year 6 teacher said if there was a fire in the class, I’d just say ‘oh theres a fire’ and walk out quietly).

Annli Tom

Senior Tutor

Bachelor of Law/Communication (Journalism) at University of Technology Sydney

🎓 2022 Girraween High School Graduate

✏️ University of Technology Sydney, Bachelor of Law/Communication (Journalism)

Why Knoji?

I teach at Knoji because of the lovely work environment, the space is so positive and encouraging for staff and students. I really appreciate how the company tailors everything for the students’ futures (not just what they’re studying at school right now) and how individual attention and growth is still so prioritised within small group classes.

If you could give one study tip to your younger self, what would it be and why?

Content and notes and memorising is all good but what matters is the application of those tools – so practice papers and exams are your best friend. Do as many questions as you can so you know how to apply the knowledge, understand the type of questions that can be asked and get comfortable with adapting what you’ve memorised.

What’s your superpower?

Making my day to day experiences a story to tell later.

Why Knoji?

I teach at Knoji because I have a genuine passion for helping students truly understand maths concepts and enjoy the learning process. As a Knoji tutor, I prioritise that every student leaves the classroom with a genuine understanding of the material. Knoji is a community where students should feel encouraged to ask questions, share knowledge, and grow together in a supportive environment.

If you could give one study tip to your younger self, what would it be and why?

Don’t wait for motivation (you will not always feel motivated to study) — create structure and discipline. Set small, achievable goals to keep your momentum going and build your confidence. Progress, not perfection, is what matters most and this is built through persistence. Keep showing up and studying, even when it is hard!

What’s your superpower?

My secret superpower is the ability to build genuine connections, and make others feel seen and truly heard.

Why Knoji?

I teach at Knoji because it gives me the chance to share my passion for maths in a supportive, team-focused environment that’s all about helping students succeed.

If you could give one study tip to your younger self, what would it be and why?

Break things down and do a little each day — it makes studying less overwhelming and helps things stick. Getting 1 percent better every day counts for a lot in the long run.

What’s your superpower?

In the immortal words of Jose Mourinho, “I’m not feeling the pressure, no. You cannot put pressure on me. No chance. No chance.”

Why Knoji?

I teach at Knoji because it fosters a culture of curiosity and growth. As a Knoji tutor, I prioritise building students’ confidence in their problem-solving abilities. Knoji is a community where learning is personalised, engaging, and genuinely enjoyable.

If you could give one study tip to your younger self, what would it be and why?

Focus on truly understanding concepts rather than just memorising formulas. Deep understanding makes it easier to adapt to harder problems later on. Also, don’t be afraid to ask questions — they show you’re thinking, not that you’re struggling. Learning how to learn is just as important as the content itself.

What’s your superpower?

Making tough maths problems tap out faster than you can say quadratic formula.

Dhruv Shejale

Junior Tutor

Bachelor of Actuarial Studies and Computer Science at University of New South Wales

✏️ University of New South Wales Bachelor of Actuarial Studies and Computer Science

Why Knoji?

I teach at Knoji because I love helping students feel proud of what they achieve. In the Knoji classroom, it’s about building confidence just as much as skills. I believe Knoji is a community where encouragement and growth go hand in hand.

If you could give one study tip to your younger self, what would it be and why?

Try and romanticise what you’re learning – it’s always tougher to pay attention and learn something if you’re going into a lesson expecting it to be boring.

What’s your superpower?

Being able to read something and instantly memorise it.

Eshani Perera

Why Knoji?

Knoji is a community where you don’t have to be perfect – just curious

If you could give one study tip to your younger self, what would it be and why?

Stop trying to make your notes pretty before you understand them! Understanding matters more than colour coding (but don’t worry, pastel highlighter still have a place).

What’s your superpower?

Turning “I can’t do it” into “wait maybe I can!”

Fabian Sukumar

I teach at Knoji because I love seeing students build their confidence as they learn and develop their skills. Knoji creates the kind of supportive, high-trust space where that growth really thrives.

If you could give one study tip to your younger self, what would it be and why?

Small, steady effort makes a big difference over time. You don’t need to study for hours, just do a little bit every day. It’s the habit that builds momentum.

What’s your superpower?

Peace of mind. I always bring peace and calmness to stressful situations.

Because of this, I find that community at Knoji is one where students are encouraged to ask questions, seek advice, and consider their education from several perspectives. This makes the learning experience more fulfilling for both students and tutors.

If you could give one study tip to your younger self, what would it be and why?

Always ask for help when you need it. I firmly believe we do not achieve anything alone, and that other people’s assistance and knowledge can always help you improve.

What’s your superpower?

I teach at because I wanted to help high school students achieve their best. I think that a good teacher can truly set you up for success, now and in the future. I just want to be one of those teachers a student looks back at fondly.

If you could give one study tip to your younger self, what would it be and why?

Just stick to the program, practice, practice and practice. If you’re ever in doubt, practice some more. That being said, never be afraid of asking your teachers when you’re confused. They’re teachers for a reason.

What’s your superpower?

I think I operate well under pressure. Particularly in exam-like conditions. That’s something I try to teach my students how to do as well.

Don’t procrastinate. It doesn’t matter how much you get done on the first day; at least look at the assignment and note down the key terms and criteria. Complete the assignment in little steps each day rather than doing everything in one night.

What’s your superpower?

Knoji is a community where students feel safe to approach tutors with questions and concerns – it is a place they feel prioritised

If you could give one study tip to your younger self, what would it be and why?

Good mental & physical health = better study habits: Good mental and physical health improve focus, memory, and energy levels, making studying more effective. Managing stress and getting enough sleep help prevent burnout and enhance cognitive function. Healthy habits also promote discipline and consistency, leading to better study routines and academic success.

As a tutor, I create a classroom environment where students leverage their strengths to overcome challenges. I encourage rewriting any task you get; group discussions, fostering collaboration to find solutions; and I always welcome questions to ensure everyone feels supported in their learning.

If you could give one study tip to your younger self, what would it be and why?

Success is not linear and that’s okay. Some exams you will do better in than others; always talk to your teacher’s about the work, take on the feedback, implement it and keep trying until you get it right.

What’s your superpower?

Why Knoji?

As a Knoji tutor, I prioritise helping students to see that academic and personal growth is always possible, no matter where they start. By breaking down difficult concepts and teaching effective strategies, I focus on building the confidence and resilience needed for students to improve and continually grow.

If you could give one study tip to your younger self, what would it be and why?

One study tip I would give my younger self is to not be afraid of receiving as much feedback as possible. Especially for English essays, it is more effective to write a terrible first draft and keep editing based on feedback than to spend hours trying to write the perfect essay straight away. Getting different perspectives on your work can inspire new ideas, improve clarity and lead to stronger essays.

What’s your superpower?

The power to make even the most boring English texts feel like a binge-worthy Netflix show.

Why Knoji?

I teach maths at Knoji because I’m passionate about mentoring students and helping them reach their full potential. Knoji gives me the space to tailor support and understand how to help each student.

If you could give one study tip to your younger self, what would it be and why?

Doing lots of past paper questions but making sure I focus on revising and learning from mistakes. Not looking back on your mistakes will slow your growth and understanding of which areas you need more focus in.

What’s your superpower?

I am always able to remain composed under pressure.

Nethiran Thiruvannan

Junior Tutor

Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering / Computer Science at University of New South Wales

✏️ University of New South Wales, Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science

Why Knoji?

As a Knoji tutor I prioritise accommodating for all my students individual needs.

If you could give one study tip to your younger self, what would it be and why?

Always spend more time on practising questions and getting feedback rather than focusing too much on the theory only.

What’s your superpower?

I’m always able to frame concepts in a way that allows people to understand the bigger picture.

Nirvana Shah

Why Knoji?

As a Knoji tutor I prioritise the understanding of core mathematical concepts in a supportive and encouraging space.

If you could give one study tip to your younger self, what would it be and why?

Don’t be your worst enemy- tell yourself you’re good at something, push yourself to love learning, and the rest will follow easier than you could’ve imagined.

What’s your superpower?

Sounding confident even when I have absolutely no idea.

Why Knoji?

Knoji is a community where student’s entire high school experience is supported- not just their academic marks.

If you could give one study tip to your younger self, what would it be and why?

To listen to your intuition! You know how you learn best and your needs are going to be different to your peers when it comes to preparing- and having those differences is a lovely thing.

What’s your superpower?

Creating a calm atmosphere for leaning from the moment you step into class.

Rishon Chowalloor

✏️ The University of New South Wales, Bachelor of Actuarial/Commerce

Why Knoji?

Knoji is a community where students are not only developed academically but also supported in areas which go beyond just school marks.

If you could give one study tip to your younger self, what would it be and why?

The most effective way to study is to prioritise doing practise papers, you only get better at tests by doing more tests.

What’s your superpower?

Despite obstacles, I keep moving forward.

Sabrina Zhang

Senior Tutor

Bachelor of Advanced Science (Honours) / Law at University of New South Wales

🎓 2018 James Ruse Agricultural High School Graduate

✏️ University of New South Wales, Bachelor of Advanced Science (Honours) / Law

Why Knoji?

I teach at Knoji because I want students to appreciate how English isn’t just a subject to survive in high school. What we gain from reading and studying English is so central to how we think, empathise and grow. The humanities have so much to offer and deserve to be appreciated – regardless of whether you see yourself as an “English person”. As such, my classes are as much about English theory as they are about life lessons and understanding the human condition.

If you could give one study tip to your younger self, what would it be and why?

Don’t treat study/revision as one overwhelming task. Break your study into smaller sections and set clear goals for what you want to complete and achieve. Focusing on one goal at a time, i.e. just learning figurative techniques, makes the process feel more manageable. Ticking off smaller tasks is not only more effective—it’s also far more motivating and satisfying.

What’s your superpower?

I have a 6th sense (have successfully predicted 2 car accidents).

Saniru Jayasinghe

Tutor

Bachelor of Actuarial Studies at University of New South Wales

✏️ University of New South Wales, Bachelor of Actuarial Studies

Why Knoji?

Knoji offers the perfect balance between engagement and learning for both teachers and students alike, making it an amazing place to tutor at. As a Knoji tutor I not only prioritise educating my students but also building lasting relationships in order to foster their development in both the course and as individuals.

If you could give one study tip to your younger self, what would it be and why?

Don’t try to follow someone else’s routine even if they are older, “smarter” or harder working than you as at the end of the day everyone is wired differently. The best students are often the ones that know their own habits and tendencies the best and cater to their needs whilst also having an open mind to their peers advice.

What’s your superpower?

The ability to spontaneously create the most niche and random jokes and references in conversation that only we would get.

Sheekha Chalise

Junior Tutor

Bachelor of Computer Science at University of New South Wales

✏️ University of New South Wales, Bachelor of Computer Science

Why Knoji?

I teach at Knoji because of the great community, great vibes and of course, great students. Mentoring them (and hearing all their crazy stories) is the best part of the job!

If you could give one study tip to your younger self, what would it be and why?

Procrastination and I go way back. But what I’ve learnt is that small steps get you to the finish line much faster than one giant, panicked leap! Also, if you’re a reels addict like me, put your phone outside your room when you study.

What’s your superpower?

Turning brain rot into brain power.

Shreya Chawla

Junior Tutor

Bachelor of Medical Studies/Doctor of Medicine at University of New South Wales

✏️ University of New South Wales, Bachelor of Medical Studies/Doctor of Medicine

Why Knoji?

In the Knoji classroom, there was no silly questions and no boring English texts!

If you could give one study tip to your younger self, what would it be and why?

Study smarter, not harder – sometimes writing the most detailed and pretty notes is not worth it. And to make doing practice papers the bible of studying – active recall is where it is at, even if it is more uncomfortable than passive recall/simply rereading notes.

What’s your superpower?

Acing the meaning of an English text after skim-reading it for 2 minutes.

Why Knoji?

In the Knoji classroom, we accomodate all levels of learning, ensure all students excel and have a concrete understanding of key concepts.

If you could give one study tip to your younger self, what would it be and why?

A study tip I would give to my younger self is re-doing my exam papers in a timed environment and making sure I could get full marks so that I was confident I fully understood the topics.

What’s your superpower?

Staying calm in timed environments/ time crunches.

Srikrithi Sridhar

Junior Tutor

Bachelor of Economics / Secondary Education at University of New South Wales

✏️ University of New South Wales, Bachelor of Economics/ Bachelor of Education (Secondary)

Why Knoji?

I teach at Knoji because it gives me an opportunity to instil confidence in students who need direction and guidance with their learning. In the Knoji classroom, we have interesting and collaborative discussions on a variety of topics that helps students form opinions and insights on questions and ideas.

If you could give one study tip to your younger self, what would it be and why?

I would urge myself to seek help when I need it and not be shy to admit gaps in my learning. I was a shy student and would always try to find solutions to seemingly impossible problems on my own, but waste time and energy in the process. If I had admitted I was struggling with certain concepts and questions and sought help, I would have greatly benefited and possibly achieved quicker results.

What’s your superpower?

I can manipulate time to fit in every task I need to complete within a short time frame.

Why Knoji?

I teach at Knoji because it fosters a supportive community where students develop confidence through deep understanding, not just memorisation. I prioritise mentorship and critical thinking, helping students grow academically and personally.

If you could give one study tip to your younger self, what would it be and why?

I’d tell my younger self to stay consistent with note-taking—keep a separate quick-notes book for each subject, summarizing key concepts along with exam tips and tricks. This makes revision easier and more effective. Most importantly, balance academics with extracurriculars and a social life, because long-term success comes from both knowledge and well-being.

What’s your superpower?

Making people believe I have everything under control… even when I don’t.

Focus on developing your character and support systems. Its far easier to tackle your educational struggles when your mental, social and physical health is properly prioritised as well. Maintain a strong passion for learning through time dedicated to extracurriculars. Knowledge is VIRTUE.

What’s your superpower?

I have great comedic… timing!
