If you could give one study tip to your younger self, what would it be and why?

One study tip I would give my younger self is to not be afraid of receiving as much feedback as possible. Especially for English essays, it is more effective to write a terrible first draft and keep editing based on feedback than to spend hours trying to write the perfect essay straight away. Getting different perspectives on your work can inspire new ideas, improve clarity and lead to stronger essays.

The power to make even the most boring English texts feel like a binge-worthy Netflix show.

Why Knoji?

I teach maths at Knoji because I’m passionate about mentoring students and helping them reach their full potential. Knoji gives me the space to tailor support and understand how to help each student.

If you could give one study tip to your younger self, what would it be and why?

Doing lots of past paper questions but making sure I focus on revising and learning from mistakes. Not looking back on your mistakes will slow your growth and understanding of which areas you need more focus in.

I am always able to remain composed under pressure.

Always spend more time on practising questions and getting feedback rather than focusing too much on the theory only.

Don’t be your worst enemy- tell yourself you’re good at something, push yourself to love learning, and the rest will follow easier than you could’ve imagined.

Sounding confident even when I have absolutely no idea.

To listen to your intuition! You know how you learn best and your needs are going to be different to your peers when it comes to preparing- and having those differences is a lovely thing.

Creating a calm atmosphere for leaning from the moment you step into class.

The most effective way to study is to prioritise doing practise papers, you only get better at tests by doing more tests.

Why Knoji?

I teach at Knoji because I want students to appreciate how English isn't just a subject to survive in high school. What we gain from reading and studying English is so central to how we think, empathise and grow. The humanities have so much to offer and deserve to be appreciated - regardless of whether you see yourself as an "English person". As such, my classes are as much about English theory as they are about life lessons and understanding the human condition.

If you could give one study tip to your younger self, what would it be and why?

Don’t treat study/revision as one overwhelming task. Break your study into smaller sections and set clear goals for what you want to complete and achieve. Focusing on one goal at a time, i.e. just learning figurative techniques, makes the process feel more manageable. Ticking off smaller tasks is not only more effective—it’s also far more motivating and satisfying.

What's your superpower?

I have a 6th sense (have successfully predicted 2 car accidents).

If you could give one study tip to your younger self, what would it be and why?

Don’t try to follow someone else’s routine even if they are older, “smarter” or harder working than you as at the end of the day everyone is wired differently. The best students are often the ones that know their own habits and tendencies the best and cater to their needs whilst also having an open mind to their peers advice.

The ability to spontaneously create the most niche and random jokes and references in conversation that only we would get.
